Topic: Many LVMS Questions! Posted: 15 Oct 2009 at 2:41am |
|
Hello all. I have a few questions for you.
Is the clubhouse seating inside? Has anyone sat there and can tell me what it is like? How does it differ from the VIP Suites? Are either available if you are traveling solo?
Another question: If I am sitting outside, what is the single best seat to have and what section? I've never seen NASCAR in person and have read you want to sit on the start/finish and up high. But it seems at LVMS you have to choose - up high in turn 1 or 4 or else lower on the S/F line. If money were no object, which seat would you pick (aside from on top of Tony Stewart's pit box).
Can anyone recommend method to get to the track? I don't want to drive and I don't want to deal with the hassle of public buses. I'm not rich enough for a helicopter, so I guess that leaves either a taxi or some sort of bus coach charter. CAn anyone tell me how much a taxi would cost? Can someone recommend a good charter company that maybe has a bathroom on board, gives you in-and-out during the race, and is dependable and will get me there early?
Finally, any camera geeks in here that can tell me - is NASCAR going to let me bring a 70-200mm lens in (kinda big) or do I have to stick to a longrange camera that doesn't look like a cannon? Can I bring a camera to driver intros (if I buy a pass) and take photos of them really close as they walk by? Will they let a very pro-looking Nikon in or just little consumer point-and-shoots only?
Finally - I am going to attend this race alone because none of my friends are into racing. Will it be easy to meet people there? I like Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart -- are the JR fans going to ruin my time if I wear any 18 gear?
I am sure I will have many more questions to come. I have been a NASCAR fan for only a few years and this is the first time I have thought about attending live and I really want to go in Vegas. Please reply, thanks!

Hello all. I have a few questions for you.
Is the clubhouse seating inside? Yes, it is inside.
Has anyone sat there and can tell me what it is like? How does it differ from the VIP Suites? Are either available if you are traveling solo? The clubhouse is more like a small pub setting, whereas the VIP suites have theatre style seating along with catered food and the such. Both are very nice, but also different from each other. Both are also available if you are flying solo.
To be honest, up high is better as it is easier to see the whole track. Down low, however is very cool because you get to experience the speed. I can also tell you that a lot of action happens coming out of turn 4 towards the start/finish line... but it's also cool to have the cars charging towards you in turns 1 and 3. I'm sure many others will chime in with their personal preference.
I live in Vegas, so I'm not really sure on this one. Sorry. The track ticket office should have some info on the various shuttles offered though...
This one I'm not 100% sure about. I have seen some pretty fancy gear, so I would assume that it is not a problem bringing it in, but you should check with the track office to be sure. You can reach them at 800-644-4444.
Finally - I am going to attend this race alone because none of my friends are into racing. Will it be easy to meet people there? I like Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart -- are the JR fans going to ruin my time if I wear any 18 gear? It will be SUPER easy meeting people. Good natured ribbing about your driver choice will take place, but everyone is there to have fun. If you're not afraid to strike up a conversation, you'll definitely come away with some new friends.

Thanks for your reply, it is really helpful. Does anyone have an estimation about what row you would need to be in to see the backstretch unobstructed? I am reading about row 30 is good. There is one broker on ebay selling ROW 1 on the start/finish line. I would love to sit there but I am not sure it would be the best for my first live race. Opinions?
I am getting really excited about the race. It's a way's off, but I can't wait. Where will everyone else be sitting?

Can't answer any of the questions but hope you enjoy being in Vegas for the Race. I'm sitting in Section U so not near the S/F but I'm on row 50 which is the highest row in that section which I like. Wish I could afford clubhouse or VIP seating but I do like my seat. Being a woman the bathroom being right behind me is a plus LOL.

Last year was the first time for the wife and I.We used a rental car and bought the lucky 7 parking pass. Gets you nice and close to the track. We like to get there early to tialgate and get souvenirs. Thats why we like to drive. Our seats are in row 75 in the Petty terrace. Srait up from #1 pit stalls. Can see whole track. Sun sets behind us which is nice for latter in the day. Brought my Nikon with a 70 - 200 zoom no problem. Track also helped us out with qustions. Good to get started early. We already got our seats and rooms lined up. Love the place. Keep checking the forum. Thats how we get alot of our info

I have the lucky 7 pass get there very early but sure hope they change what they did on Sunday last year. The gate to get in to parking as a whole it was not opened until much later than it was the year before and boy cars were stacked up.

Thanks for all the info. Am putting off buying tickets because I am waiting to hear if friends can join me. Seems like with the economy, plenty are available. Anyway, I am really excited to attend. Thanks for the replies.

deb4jeff,
The lines were messed up, but I made the smooth move of the race through a back gate. The wife wasn't very impressed though! Once we were in we had a nice spot close to the track.

Which gate is the back one incase they don't have the one just off the freeway open again next year. Of course I might get lost and end up who knows where LOL. Thanks
