Infineon offers little in the way of shade, so be prepared.
The best seats as far as seeing as much of the track as possible would probably be from the terraces, 3 and 4. These are located by turns 3 and 4 and you can see the cars coming up the hill from turn 2, over turns 3 and 4, down to 7 which is great 'cause cars sometimes can pass there and then down to the "esses" which is turns 8 and 9. You can't see turns 10, 11, 12, 1, or 2. However, there is a very large NEXTEL vision screen in which the race is projected and you can see what happens on this screen. The track offers views of the pit stops and such on these screens, and there is more than one.
For a view of turns one and two, four, seven, eight and nine, then the terrace 9 would offer a good view. please note that the sun would be full in your face if you sit on this side of the track.
I have attended the races at Sears Point (sorry, Infineon) for a few years and have always purchased tickets from the Snap-on tool truck and sit in Terrace 3(or is it 4?). I love the seats, but this year have upgraded to stadium seats in the Grandstands for the shade and for a different view. Unfortunately, these seats aren't as close to the track as the terrace seating is.
Good luck and enjoy!!!

turn 9 is pretty good you can see most of the track and you've got the nextel visions in front of you... we sat in turn 7 this year in section E and it wasn't as bad as we were expecting you could still see a lot of the track from there :] so advice for anyone next year? ;]

The only covered seats are in the main (start/finish) grandstand in row 33 or higher.
